Wow, what a busy month. Sourav and I moved to our first official free standing house a few weeks ago. It is still in the city and only about 1,000 square feet, but has a small second bedroom for the little one and a nice yard for the dog. It is the perfect amount of space for us to start our family without contributing to the outrageous urban sprawl and accumulation of status symbol goods which seems to be taking over our generation at the moment.
I had my 6 month appointment last week and was disappointed to hear that one of my midwives is actually leaving the practice and taking a job with another hospital. I have been having doubts about this practice for weeks now, on account of them messing up some of my test results and taking in so many clients that the likelihood of one of my midwives actually being on call for me rather than an OB seemed slim to none. This seemed like a great sign that we should look into switching practitioners. My midwife is transferring to St. Luke's hospital and their very popular, well run midwifery program which boasts a total of 7 midwives and a 99.9% coverage rate of attending births. The hospital is much closer to our house and seems to fit our needs a little bit better. I have heard only good things and they seem to be the most midwife/doula friendly hospital in the city. Speaking of Doulas, we went to a "Meet the Doulas" open house over the weekend and found out some great information. We are going to start interviewing some possible doulas within the next couple of weeks, since it seems to be the only way to get some continuity in this crazy health care world of ours. On a lighter note, the baby is doing wonderfully. His heartbeat was very strong and he is moving quite a bit these days. At times, I stare at my belly, in awe of the alien shapes it takes on. He doesn't seem to be sleeping much (definitely not when I am trying too!). Let's hope that it isn't a sign of future sleep habits!
I still don't have any updated belly pictures, even though it seems to have grown a lot this month!! I am heading back to Pittsburgh this weekend for my baby shower and I hope to stock up on photos then.
