4 weeks....

I am 36 weeks today, only 4 more weeks until my due date. Sourav and I had a busy week last week. Our last birthing class was on Tuesday. The class was very helpful and we met a bunch of great couples who we will probably stay in touch with. We planned a "class reunion" in March so we can all meet up with our new little ones and share our birth stories. We also took a tour of the Labor and Delivery Floor at St. Luke's on tuesday. The hospital is great, very low key and small. The nurses seemed very pleasant! On Wednesday we interviewed a pediatrician who we really liked. The practice is very small and only take about 200 patients, unlike the typical pediatrician who takes about 2,000. This allows for more time, same day appointments, and get this, house visits! I didn't even think those existed anymore. She is very interested in whole care, focusing on nutrition and is very open to alternative vaccine schedules. They have a lactation specialist on staff that can also make home visits early on if I am having trouble breastfeeding. I had a midwife appointment on Friday. Everything is going well. I am still measuring perfectly and the little one's heartbeat was great. He is still in the same position, head down with his back slightly to the right of my belly button. I discussed my birth plan with the midwife and she thought it looked good. Much of what we have on there is pretty standard at St. Luke's, but she said it never hurts to have things that are important to you written down so the nurses have something to reference. I took the test for Group B Strep so we should get those results sometime next week. It is a natural bacteria that many woman have. If I am positive, we will have to discuss the use of antibiotics while I am in labor.
Friday was also Sourav's 30th birthday! It was also our marriage anniversary, the day we went to City Hall in SF and did our civil ceremony. We went out to dinner at a restaurant that sits right on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Then, we went home, where I had managed to pull off a surprise party for him! He was totally surprised and I think everyone had a good time.
We got a wonderful gift card from Sourav's practice as a baby gift, so today we went on a shopping spree for some last minute things that we needed for the baby.
We are getting really excited and can't wait to meet this little guy. My belly is pretty big, and some of my maternity tops don't quite do the job anymore. Although I love feeling him move around inside me, I can't wait to hold him and see what he looks like. One more week until I am officially considered full term!

Happy Holidays to everyone. :)
